The cooperation among various disciplines as well as the cooperation between scientists and technicians has considerably gained significance from the early 1990s. Such inter- and transdisciplinary co-operations are often an important requirement for the granting of research projects. However, this field still lacks a methodical approach for the important integrative and mediative challenges that come with such projects. A number of research topics and the respective teams at Technical University Berlin were chosen for an empirical study. By interviewing some representatives from the research team, the cooperation method, the research methodology and the knowledge transfer practices were analysed. What are the characteristics of inter- and transdisciplinary projects? What are the resulting criteria for science and funding programmes, project concepts, -management and -organisation? What are the roles and functions of inter- and transdisciplinary Cooperation Management for multi-dimensional knowledge creation? What are the qualities of "new" inter- and transdisciplinary knowledge? The analysis of these and other questions contributes to the development of an applied research strategy for the management of inter- and transdisciplinary research in different professional compositions and in different organisational structures. This empirical study has resulted in the creation of a literature overview. The results were compared with a similar study on interdisciplinary cooperation by Austrian scientist Celine Loibl. nexus also published a book on Transdisciplinary Cooperation Management - New Forms of Collaboration between Science and Society. The empirical results of the study will be analysed with a special focus on systematical failures and typical weak points of cooperation management and will be used for the development of special measures. Which problems did the interviewees mention frequently and why? How did the projects handle these problems? The interpretation results serve as the basis for a package of measures for an adequate cooperation management and will be described in the form of socratical dialogues that are exciting and nice to read.
