“ELTERN-AG“ is a primary preventive program for parents who are currently in the family planning phase or have children of preschool age. One of the following conditions has to apply to the parents: socially disadvantaged, low school-leaving qualifications, single parent, underage, immigration background.
The objectives of the program “ELTERN-AG” are improvement of the parenting skills, promotion of networking capabilities with other parents and in the professional help system, strengthening of self-help capabilities through empowerment and promotion of child development. “ELTERN-AGs” are realized by qualified and supervised mentors at facilities of local carriers. The parent meetings take place in an introduction and a consolidation phase with ten meetings per phase. Supported by a transition management the two phases are followed by self-organized meetings.
nexus e.V. evaluates the impact of the “ELTERN-AG” empirically. It will focus on the following questions:
- Does the program reach the target group of socially disadvantaged parents?
- Is the program concept implemented with the aimed-at quality criteria?
- Does the program improve parenting skills, style of upbringing, social integration and social networking of the parents?
- Is the program’s impact on the children’s development positive?
- Does the program make an impact on the position of carriers in the early childhood education field, especially on the use by the target group?
The evaluation is laid out for five years in the longitudinal section as a panel study with control group.
