Together with the University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal and the Landgesellschaft Sachsen-Anhalt, nexus will analyse seven villages until the end of 2007. First the project partners examine the existing conditions of life in the villages. Key point are families and young people’s needs regarding social networks, infrastructure (e.g. school, shopping, leisure time) and spatial characteristics (e.g. nature, village places).
After that, citizens and experts will discuss the results at conferences. The results will be used to develop models and measures for attractive life in the countryside. This work is funded by the ministry of building and transport of the federal state Saxony-Anhalt. The villages involved are Coswig (Anhalt), Gerbstedt, Ilsenburg (Harz), Mieste, Stendal, Wanzleben and Weißenfels. They are representative of many villages in Saxony-Anhalt. The results of the project can thus be transferred to other cities.
Complete project name: Ways to a sustainable population policy in Saxony-Anhalt – models of life in the countryside for young people and families.
