Mobility, space, demography
Mobility is still synonymous with freedom, individuality and growth, the result being that the transport sector has the strongest growth rates and consumes the largest share of energy.
Yet mobility is changing. The scope for shaping mobility has increased for individuals, organisations and the state, despite people frequently not being aware of this. Almost always are there alternative choices for exchanging and transporting information, goods and people. Knowing about alternatives thus accounts for the success of activities concerning mobility and spatial planning as well. nexus develops and evaluates new participative strategies of mobility and spatial planning as well as the respective services for companies, regional corporations and the state. Other infrastructures including energy and water right up to housing and health care are additional key competencies. These also imply meeting the challenges of an aging society, a society without full employment, and a society of people with "patchwork biographies". New models of sustainable demographic development need to be created and verified for applicability in their regional and global context. Spatial planning developed its tools under the paradigm of space shortage. However, migration and demographic and structural change nowadays often lead to shrinkage processes and new spatial liberties. nexus provides consultation on the political shaping of demographic change to local governments, rural districts, federal states and the Federal Government.
