As commissioned by priority research area "Pioneers of Mobility" at the University of the German Army in Munich
nexus prepared a report entitled "Data on and Trends in Mobility" and researched the literature on theories of mobility in social and economic geography.
The task was to provide sound background information from both fields of inquiry and summarize the quantitative development of important mobility data in recent decades.
The purpose was to look at a broad spectrum of aspects within the multifaceted dimension of spatial and social mobility. The specific topics of commuter routes, travel, and changes of residence were also examined in the report. They were not only considered in relation to spatial mobiltity - the main focus - but were also described in detail according to social criteria. Interactions with social mobility were discussed as well.
